A cultural space four floors up

Maus Hábitos hides on the fourth floor of a building on Rua de Passos Manuel, near Bolhão in Porto’s Baixa — take the lift, because it’s easy to walk past at street level. It’s a cult Art-Deco cultural space that refuses a single label: bar, restaurant, gallery and club floor sharing one address. By day it’s a creative hangout; on weekend nights it flips into one of the city’s defining alternative party rooms.

Who you’ll find here

The crowd is young, artsy and mixed — the alt scene’s regulars plus whoever the gallery and concert programme has drawn in. It reads as a genuine meet-people destination in the alternative world, sociable because the space keeps people moving between the bar, the art and the dancefloor. Less a pickup club, more a cultural venue where the night gets loose and conversation follows the DJs and the concerts.

Drinks, music and hours

Cover depends on the event: club and concert nights are ticketed, while quieter times are free to wander. There’s a full bar and a kitchen, so you can make an evening of it. DJs and live concerts drive the weekend, and on Friday and Saturday the club floor runs until 06:00. Midweek it’s calmer and earlier — very much a two-speed venue depending on the night.

Practical notes

The building runs a live website but publishes little usable venue photography, so check its pages or socials for the events calendar rather than the pictures. Remember the lift to the fourth floor. Cards are accepted and the crowd is English-friendly. Come midweek for the gallery-bar calm, or Friday and Saturday for the full club-floor experience that keeps going until dawn.
